Contemporary

Contemporary dance is style that is expressive and combines a mixture of different styles which are modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet. Along with this fusion of different styles, teachers also ensure that students have a strong connection from their body to their mind to convey a fluid motion through their body which creates versatility and freedom.

Contemporary dance is an explorative and evolving form. It combines methods developed from modern and post-modern dance. Elements include use of gravity, alignment, breath, contraction and release, balance and off-balance, floor work, and improvisation.

Our programme includes open contemporary classes which focus on these foundations, as well as our Competitive Troupe programme where dancers learn stylised choreography, and how to perform/compete as a team.
